Remove Condensation From A Breitling Watch

Condensation can make that expensive Breitling a lot less impressive.

Breitling watches are on the higher end of the jewelry market. If condensation started to appear on the inside of the face of your Breitling, it wouldn't be long before it corroded the insides of your four-figure accessory. You'll want to move to get the condensation out before long-term damage happens. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

1. Pour some dry rice into a plastic quart storage bag and put the watch inside. Add rice on top and then close the bag, and put the bag somewhere that is warm and dry without being in direct sunlight for long periods of time. After a couple of days, pull the watch out. The rice can pull moisture out of it, so the condensation may be gone. If not, move to Step 2.

2. Turn your furnace on and place the watch on a flat surface, such as a plate. Rest this plate on or near one of the heating vents for a couple of hours. This added heat can cause the moisture to evaporate and come out of your Breitling. If you can still see condensation after you've tried this a few times, move to Step 3.

3. Set the watch on a towel near a window that has direct sunlight, and let the watch rest there for an hour or so. While you wouldn't want to do this with the watch inside a plastic bag, sitting out in the open air under direct sunlight for that period of time won't damage the watch.

4. Look at the directions for your particular Breitling model. If you are set on opening it, you'll need to acquire the right tools at a specialty craft store. Items like tiny screwdrivers and watch openers and closers will help you. Use the screwdrivers to remove the screws and take away the watch back and set the watch out in a room with plenty of circulation, and wait for the condensation to disappear from the face. Put the watch back together when you're done.
