Refrigerators have become a major part of our lives. Since the first practical household unit debuted in 1915, the modern fridge can be found in almost every household. In fact, it has become not only a commodity, but a necessity. With the amount of food we must buy these days, and the limited time we have to shop for groceries, refrigerators have alleviated the problem of needing to constantly shop for fresh foods as well as combat rotten, spoiled ones. Does this Spark an idea?
Instructions
1. Depending on the model and age of your fridge, you may have the option of setting the unit to automatically emptying the system of water to make storage easier. Consult your manual if you have this feature.
2. If your fridge has a built-in water dispenser and/or ice-maker, you will need to turn off the water supply that is feeding the fridge. Locate and find the knob that leads to the unit, usually found behind or beside it. Twist it off.
3. Pull out your refrigerator from the kitchen enclave, if applicable. Unplug the unit by disconnecting the power cord from the wall outlet, found behind the fridge.
4. Remove all items from the fridge and freezer sections of the unit. If you have an ice-maker built into the freezer section, place a deep bowl or container underneath it to catch the melting ice. Leave the unit open, with both freezer and fridge section doors out for 24 hours.
5. Remove the drawers and other removable parts from inside the unit. Wash these thoroughly, as it is common for old foods and stains to stick to them. Wipe down and dry the inside of the unit, replace the items that you had washed, and move the fridge to where it will be stored.
