Scrapbooking is more fun when you purchase supplies for less.
Preserving family memories with pictures and journaling is a hobby many people enjoy. Because it's a hobby that relies heavily on supplies, such as paper and embellishments, it can also be an expensive hobby. However, you can find supplies at lower prices, if you know where to look
Instructions
1. Shop at stores that don't specialize in hobby items. Scrapbook, craft and paper stores have popped up all over and offer a wide array of supplies. However, you'll pay much more for some of the same items that are sold in discount stores. Big box retailers are cheaper and much of their stock is the same being offered at high-end specialty stores.
2. Check out the hardware store. Tags, embellishments, and eyelets can all be found for much less. This is the place many scrapbook companies first got the idea for their higher priced notions.
3. Look in a different section of the craft and sewing stores. Scrapbook ribbon can also be found in the sewing department, sometimes for a lower price. Photo-corners can be found in the frame aisle. Totes can be found in the plastic and container section. Many items are the same or very similar as those packaged as scrapbook accessories and are sometimes priced much less.
4. Buy paper by the stack. A stack usually contains a bulk of coordinating papers for a reduced price. Even if you don't use all the sheets, you end up paying much less than if you'd purchased them each separately. Some stacks also come with stickers or vellum that coordinates with the paper
5. Purchase seasonal items after the fact. Once a season or holiday is over, many stores offer drastic discounts to reduce their stock. If you can wait until after the holiday to put your scrapbook pages together, you're bound to find great deals.
