Measure International Distances

Measuring international distances is necessary for different reasons. You might be planning an international trip and would like to know the distance between the places you are visiting in order to plan your itinerary. Knowledge of international distances is also required for air sports like ballooning, parachuting and gliding that span over international territory. Additionally, measuring international distances is needed for airplane routing. Measuring international distances is easy and does not take long to calculate.

Instructions

1. Download an international distance calculator. Go to Fai.org for one that allows you to calculate distances when you are offline, too. Get the latitude and longitude coordinates of the start and stop place. If you are planning to visit many places, break the journey into different legs, and and obtain the coordinates for each place. Feed the coordinates to the calculator in the order you want them. Press "Compute" to get the distance between two international places. Toggle between the choices to get the distance in nautical miles, miles or kilometers.

2. Visit Timeanddate.com to calculate distance online. Select the from and to location from a limited choice of locations.

3. Use Freemaptools.com to select locations from a Google Map by pinpointing the location on a map. You can also calculate your travel distance based on your travel speed.

4. Visit Travelmath.com to calculate the distance between the from and to location. You can also determine the time difference and latitude/longitude coordinates.

5. Go to Tripcalculator.org to calculate fuel cost and average driving time apart from calculating distances.
