Run On Tired Legs

Don't strain yourself too much while running.

Whether you are preparing for a marathon or trying to get yourself in better physical condition, you will eventually reach a point while running where you feel as though your legs cannot carry you any farther. Getting yourself to continue running despite the feeling of fatigue may seem impossible, but you can still continue your run.

Instructions

1. Try to change the focus in your mind. Pretend that you are running on a beach or a place you have always wanted to be. This will work for a while and give you just a little more energy to go a bit farther.

2. Remain alert and be aware of any pitfalls where you are running. If you are so exhausted that you do not see where you are running, you increase the chances of turning an ankle or falling on terrain that is uneven. Staying vigilant will also help you go a little farther.

3. Slow your pace for a while and try to get a "second wind." Sometimes slowing the pace gives you a rest that carries you through the rest of the way.

4. Stay at the same pace while running downhill as when you are running uphill. Do not speed up because it seems that going downhill is easier.

5. Listen to your body. If you are really fatigued, rest for a while.

6. Pour cold water on your legs if they get fatigued during a race or run. After the race or run, find a whirlpool or a warm to hot bathtub to just relax your legs.
