"
Snap" is an easy game to play with six dice
Snap is one name for a popular European dice game that's also called Ten Thousand or "Dix Mille" in French. The "ten thousand" in the name refers to the final point score required to win. The game is similar to a commercially available game called Farkle. It is played with six regular (six-sided) dice by two or more players. The game is best for ages 8 and up.
Instructions
1. Roll a die for each player to determine who goes first. The highest roll goes first, with play continuing clockwise after that.
2. Roll all six dice. The player whose turn it is chooses which dice to keep, and which, if any, to re-roll for the second and final roll.
3. Score 100 points for every "1" rolled and 50 for every "5." Three-of-a-kind is worth 100 times the value of the dice (for example, three 4's are worth 400). Three "1's" are worth 1,000 points (as an exception to the previous three-of-a-kind rule). Score 3,000 points for a 1-2-3-4-5-6 combination and 1,500 for any three pairs. If a player rolls no point combination on the first try, he gets a score of zero and his turn is over.
4. Roll any remaining dice and add the scores from that roll. Previously held dice can be recombined or used in new pairings to make points. If a player can use all six dice in some sort of scoring combination, that player gets to take another turn immediately. Otherwise, play passes to the next person.
5. Keep track of zeros. If a player goes three turns in a row without scoring, she loses 1,000 points. Play continues until one player has 10,000 points.
