Pick A Tattoo

The right tattoo takes much consideration.

The right tattoo can have a lasting positive effect while one chosen in haste and without adequate reflection can have a lasting negative one. The best way to decide on the perfect tattoo is to involve your artist and allow a collaborative effort to match your ideas with someone who can visualize the finished product. In addition to the design of the tattoo, you will also need to determine the proper size, style and color scheme.

Instructions

1. Choose the area of your body you wish to tattoo. Different spots on your body are ideal for different design shapes and sizes. The larger and flatter the surface, the larger and more detailed the tattoo can be.

2. Determine the particular style you want for your tattoo, be it color, black and gray, mural, portrait or other.

3. Tell your tattoo artist exactly what you want your tattoo to express. Generally you want a tattoo to express a fragment of your life that will never change, such as your ancestral lineage, representation of a family member or deep and undying passion for music, film or a sports franchise.

4. Be open to any suggestions your artist may have. Even though it is your body and your tattoo, your artist will have much more experience with what types of tattoos will turn out favorably and which may look out of place or uneven.

5. Have the design stenciled to your body and view it from several different angles in the mirror. Make sure you completely approve of the design and its placement before undergoing the actual tattoo process.
