Reprogram A Garage Door Opener

Reprogramming your garage door opener is a simple task if you have the necessary information or at least know where to find it. Different manufacturers and brands have individual processes to reset or reprogram garage door openers. This can make it difficult to know which process is the correct one for you. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

Garage Door Openers

1. Check the brand name of the garage door opener and write down the numbers from the back of the door lift unit.

2. Push the Learn Button. Most newer garage door openers have a "Learn" button on the back of the ceiling-mounted, motorized unit. The two most popular brands, Genie and Chamberlain (available at Sears), both have identical procedures for reprogramming the remote or motor unit.

3. Once button is pushed, you typically have 30 seconds to push and hold the button on the remote that you are trying to reprogram until the lights on the mounted unit flash.

4. If reprogramming a keyless entry pad, enter four-digit pin within 30 seconds. Then push enter.

5. Another option is to purchase a universal garage door opener. These are a nice choice if you have recently moved into a new home and do not know the codes or have the owner's manual for your garage door opener.
