Rip A Phone Book In Half

Ripping a phone book in half is an impressive feat of strength and raw power. You may have seen Arnold Shwarzenegger tearing a phone book to shreds. The good news is that you don't have to be a muscle man to do it. Just practice these to rip a phone book in half.

Instructions

1. Hold a phone book by its top corners so that the cover is facing you. Get a firm grip on each corner with each one of your hands while holding your arms out in front of you.

2. Place the bottom of the book against your hip. Your thumbs should be pressing the center of the phone book; your forefingers should be pointing away from the book. Think about it as if your hands were making a "W" as they hold the book.

3. Apply pressure to the center of the book with your thumbs. This should create a valley in the phone book, halfway between the binding and the open edge of the book.

4. Squeeze the phone book together as if you are trying to push the binding against the edge of the book. You should keep a tight grip on both sides so that the book forms a crease running down its center.

5. Grip the book as tightly as you can, and rotate your hands so they go from a palms-down to palms-up position. Ideally, you'll be ripping the book in half, with the same movement that you use to break a stick. If you are very strong, the book will rip in half with one movement. If you are less strong it will tear, and you will have to finish it off with one more step.

6. Finish ripping by pinning one half of the book to your hip and upper thigh, and then lifting the other half towards your chest. Keep as much tension on the phonebook as you can so that the rip is one smooth motion.
