Reverse Osteoarthritis

Osteoarthritis, also known as degenerative joint disease, is the most common form of arthritis. The condition is caused when joint cartilage wears down. Although osteoarthritis typically gets worse over time, there are steps you can take to improve or reverse the effects of the condition.

1. Develop a regular exercise routine, as moving the joints will help you regain motion and flexibility. Beneficial activities include using an elliptical trainer and stationary bike or walking. Yoga is another great option if you want a low-intensity exercise that promotes joint movement.


2. Eat a diet loaded with fresh vegetables and fruits and lean protein. Try to stay away from foods that are high in carbohydrates, sugar and fat. Most osteoarthritis patients will benefit by excluding yeast from their diet.


3. Drink at least eight 8-ounce glasses of water per day, as good hydration is known to benefit cartilage, help reverse osteoarthritis and reduce pain. This is also why it can be beneficial to eat fruits and vegetables that are high in water content.


4. Take nutritional supplements known to reverse osteoarthritis, such as vitamin A, E and D, as well as selenium, manganese and omega-3 fatty acids. All of these also offer anti-inflammatory benefits that reverse or reduce osteoarthritis.


5. Being overweight or obese can cause the effects of osteoarthritis to affect you more severely. Losing a reasonable amount of weight by eating properly and exercising is one of the best things you can do to manage and possibly reverse your arthritis.


6. Consider talking to your primary care physician about using homeopathic remedies. Although homeopathy is known to sometimes be effective it is important to talk to your doctor first to make sure it does not conflict with other treatments.
