Raise Money For Charity Events

Involve as many volunteers as you can to raise money for your charity event.

Raising money for charity events can be a boring, painstaking process or a thrilling adventure for which you, your team and your community can come together for a good cause with the proper organization and planning. The best way to raise money for your event will depend on the audience to which you want to cater, your financial goals, the time and the number of volunteers you have. Many charity events can raise money from multiple sources in a variety of ways with the proper planning.

Instructions

1. Set a financial goal for your charity-event fundraiser. Knowing how much money you want to raise will help dictate which fundraising ideas are too small for your goals or to spark a creative idea that will work.

2. Identify your target sponsors and donors. Knowing who will support your charitable event will give you an idea as to what will work to get them there and get them to open their wallets. Fancy, corporate types may scoff at a walk-a-thon, whereas a five-star, sit-down meal may feel more comfortable to that group. Your sponsors will want their target audience in attendance, making it important for your event and intended supporters to go hand-in-hand with each other.

3. Plan your main event. This may include a car wash, community-wide yard sale, walk-a-thon, golf tournament, dinner, carnival or a live entertainment show.

4. Develop side events or extra ways to earn even more while hosting a single event. Face painting, balloon animals, pie-eating contests, silent auctions, merchandise and refreshment sales are a few ideas. Pair the side fundraising with the main event so they make sense together, such as a silent auction at a fancy dinner or refreshments at a sports tournament.

5. Get the word out. Utilize any free advertisement you can, such as social media, your charity's website, flyers, radio announcements, newspapers or live news press releases. Get keynote speakers, entertainers or local celebrities involved if possible.

6. Delegate different tasks to responsible volunteers. Staff the registration table, extra booths and have setup and cleanup crews at the ready. Reserve a few responsible volunteers to serve as rovers and fill in where they're needed.

7. Acknowledge your sponsors and supporters. Send out thank you letters, mention them in your flyers and take care of any questions, concerns or needs they have, if possible. Happy sponsors and supporters will likely support your cause again for your next event and may be able to bring additional funds, supporters or sponsors your way.
