Sometimes the protection that you use to prevent pregnancy might fail. In this case, if you are not prepared for pregnancy or do not want to get pregnant, then the uncertainty that comes along with thinking that you might be pregnant after having sex can be frightening. Luckily there are methods to prevent pregnancy after sex when you are unsure whether or not your protection has worked.
Instructions
1. Go to your local pharmacy within 24 hours of having sex and purchase the Plan B emergency contraceptive to prevent pregnancy. Since this contraceptive has age restrictions, you will have to talk with the pharmacist on duty to get the medicine. The sooner you are able to take the contraceptive after having sex, the more likely you are to prevent pregnancy from occuring.
2. Contact your local health department or gynecologist office within 24 hours of having sex and explain to them that you are trying to prevent pregnancy. Ask your doctor about having the Copper T intrauterine device inserted to prevent pregnancy. If inserted within five days of having sex, it should prevent pregnancy.
3. Discuss with your doctor other methods such as birth control, condoms, and intrauterine devices that you can now use to prevent pregnancy from occuring in the future.
4. Practice safe and protected sex to prevent pregnancy. If you do not want to get pregnant, ensure that you always use some type of protection.
