Erase all the remote-control codes if you want to disable someone's access.
Electrically operated garage doors often include a remote-control transmitter that sends a signal to the door, telling it to open or close. Older transmitters used programmable codes that were set in the door motor and in the transmitter device. Craftsman power garage doors no longer use selectable codes like that in their transmissions because they are considered insecure---there are a limited number of codes, based on the number of switches. The latest remotes have unlimited codes and teach those codes to the opener.
Instructions
1. Press and hold the remote control's large button.
2. Press and release the learning button on the garage door opener. It's marked "SRT" and is on the right side of the Craftsman opener. The light will flash once on the opener. Release the button.
3. Test the programming by pressing the remote control's button again. If the door was open, it should close. If the door was closed, it should open.
