Run Track

Members of a running club take to the track.

Running is one of the oldest sports in the world. It was an important method of travel and relaying messages in ancient Greece. Today there are running clubs all over the world encouraging and promoting running, whether you want to run 100 meters or a marathon. If you're interested in running track, it doesn't matter what age you are. Even after high school and college, many states have amateur track competitions in which anyone can enter.

Instructions

1. Determine what you might be eligible for. If you are in middle or high school or in college, check with your school's team to see if you can join. If you are out of school, check with your city recreation office to see if they know of any running clubs or track teams you might be able to join.

2. Decide what events you want to run. Different body types excel at different distances.

3. Purchase running shoes based on the type of events you will be running.

4. Establish a training program, either with your coach or on your own.

5. Target upcoming races and set goals for yourself. You may choose to buy specialty track spikes to wear in races.
