1. Get dressed up when you have to. Matthew, a self-proclaimed beach bum, cleans up nicely for the red carpet. McConaughey looked sharp at the premier of his movie "Fool's Gold," wearing a classic black suit, matching vest, black button-down shirt and burgundy neck tie.
2. Stock up on bottoms and limit your shirt collection. Photographers frequently capture the well-chiseled actor in board shorts or swim trunks and no top. This look is appropriate for Matthew, who spends much of his free time relaxing on the beach or in the ocean.
3. Buy cool gear for your kids. Matthew and his gal pal Camila Alves stopped in L.A.'s chic baby boutique, Petit Tresor, to pick up a collection of Huddy Buddy Chatterbox baby tees and onesies.
4. Buy clothes from McConaughey's clothing line. Named after his motto, the A-lister's j.k.livin fashions feature items geared toward the beach, like swimsuits, flip-flops and Frisbees.
5. Load up on bandanas, sandals and sunglasses. McConaughey consistently sports accessories if not always much else. Matthew looks stylish and beach ready wearing Ray-Ban aviator sunglasses and a bandana fashioned as a headband.
6. Remember the cowboy gear. A proud Texan, McConaughey feels at home in jeans, cowboy boots and a flannel shirt. His tight jeans and partially unbuttoned button-downs are a hit with the ladies.
