Prevent Foot Pain

Working, walking and running can all cause pain to someone’s foot. There are several remedies that can be used to help foot pain once it occurs, but why deal with the pain when it can be easily prevented? By following a few steps that do not take much work, you can save money on pain cures and relax while you are on your feet.

1. Go through your closets and anywhere else you keep old shoes and either donate them or throw them out. If they are worn down, they will not protect your feet much more than going barefoot. And old shoes cannot absorb shock like newer ones can.


2. Avoid walking barefoot unless it is around your house. Even then, it recommended that you wear slippers or socks: You may not feel it, but when you go barefoot, a sensitive part of your foot is being stretched, and this could cause pain later on.


3. Purchase shoes that are just the right size. If they feel too tight, go up a size, or even half a size, so that your foot does not feel constrained, which will lead to pain.


4. Keep up the circulation in your feet by stretching them out a few times a day. If you do not have the time, you can do simple things like curling your toes to improve circulation and keep your feet pain-free.


5. Clip your nails only to the edge of your toe. If you clip your nails too short, then you are running the risk of getting an ingrown toenail -- the number one pain-causing foot problem.


6. Cut down on your heel sizes. If your heels are too high, you may like the style, but your feet will certainly feel the pain afterward. Too high of a heel can cause calluses, bunions and corns.
