Play Snap Cards

Children who recognize numbers and letters can play Snap.

"Snap" is a fast-paced card game suitable for children as young as three. Players watch for cards with matching numbers or letters and yell "Snap!" when they see a match. The first player to yell "snap" wins the two matching cards and others. The goal is to win all of the cards. Snap is an easy-to-learn family game that helps children strengthen observation and concentration skills. This game requires two or more players.

Instructions

1. Choose a dealer. Shuffle the cards, then distribute them face down, one at a time, to each player until all of the cards are dealt. Keep card piles face down in front of each player.

2. Play begins with the player to the left of the dealer. The first player takes the top card from their pile and without looking at it places it face up, creating a second pile in front of him. The player may look at the card once it's face up on his pile. This process continues in a clockwise direction for each player.

3. Watch for matching cards on top of the face-up piles -- such as two eights or two queens. You want to be fast -- the first player to notice a match shouts "Snap!" and wins both piles -- then adds them to the bottom of his face-down pile.

4. Continue playing the game; the player to the left of the person who called "Snap!" goes next. Players who run out of cards are disqualified and the game continues without them.

5. Win the game by collecting all of the cards from the other players. Game time may be as short as 10 minutes.
