Prepare A Safe New Year'S Eve Party

When preparing to host a New Year's Eve party, plan first to make it a safe one. The safest New Year's Eve party is one that serves no alcohol, however most of us will be serving alcohol at our party. You can host a safe and fun New Year's Eve party with a few good tips. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

1. Ask your guests, when inviting them, if they have a designated driver. Explain that your biggest concern is the safety of all guests, especially them. If they can't find a designated driver, ask your guest if a local taxi service is available for them.

2. Call your own local taxi company. Ask if cabs will be available to take guests home, and what their rate is. If you have quite a few guests that will be using a taxi, see if you can negotiate a lower rate.

3. Tell your guests, when inviting them, that the New Year Eve party will be a safe one; tell them you will collect car keys upon arrival. This may influence their decision to come to the party, so it's important your guests know ahead of time what to expect.

4. Make sleeping arrangements for out of town guests. Family members and the elderly should stay in the guest rooms of your home if possible. Younger guests can stay in a large room together, such as the family room.

5. Contact local hotels and motels. Ask about availability and rates; also ask if they have a courtesy pick-up bus or van. Make reservations for those guests who request a local hotel. Reserve as early as possible because New Years Eve is a busy time for them.

6. Call a local limo service, if several guests live in the same area. A limo service may be the cheapest way to safely see your party guests home; as many as eight guests can share in the cost.

7. Plan for unexpected guests to stay overnight; have extra pillows, blankets and linens available. Buy several inflatable mattresses or pool floats so guests can sleep on the floor if necessary.

8. Collect all car keys as your guests arrive, and keep them in a safe place; explain that everyone wants the New Year's Eve party to go smoothly and to make sure everyone stays safe. If your guest is reluctant, remind him that this was previously agreed upon.
