Prevent a Charley Horse


Many people experience the pain of Charley Horse's on a daily basis. Pregnant women are also prone to Charley Horses. A Charley Horse most commonly refers to a sudden tightening accompanied by excruciating pain in your calf. A Charley Horse can also occur in your foot. Many times the pain will strike as you are just sitting and relaxing or about to fall asleep. There are some things you can do to prevent the occurrence of a Charley Horse.


Instructions


1. Take Vitamin B-6 and Vitamin E. Ask your doctor for proper dosage and if taking these extra vitamin is ok for you especially if you are pregnant.


2. Eat bananas. Bananas will help to increase your potassium level. Many people who suffer from Charley Horse pain have low potassium levels. Eating bananas is especially effective for those taking medication to reduce water retention.


3. Eat foods high in calcium and magnesium. Eat whole grains and dark leaf vegetables. For best results vegetables should be eaten raw to ingest the most nutrients.


4. Drink Raspberry Leaf Tea. Raspberry Leaf Tea helps to reduce the occurrence of Charley Horses by helping to relax your muscles and inhibit them from going into spasm.


5. Keep your feet warm. Wear slippers or warm socks around the house. Wear socks to bed. A Charley Horse is more likely to occur when your feet are cold.


6. Stay hydrated. Drink sports drinks such as Powerade or Gatorade to stay hydrated and help to keep electrolytes in balance. Dehydration, even if it is slight can result in a muscle cramp or Charley Horse.
