If you live in New Jersey but received a New York speeding ticket, you can pay online
If you are a resident of New Jersey but have been cited with a New York speeding ticket, you can pay the ticket online with a valid credit card at the New York TVB, or Traffic Violations Bureau website, or you may mail the speeding ticket with a check or money order to the New York Department of Motor Vehicle's Plea Unit. In both cases, you need the traffic ticket number to pay the ticket.
Instructions
1. Check if your speeding ticket has the words "Traffic Violations Bureau" at the bottom of the ticket to determine if your speeding ticket may be paid online at the TVB website. If you do not have your ticket, call the Albany Traffic Violations Division at 518-474-0941 for a list of your outstanding traffic ticket numbers. If your ticket does not have the wording at the bottom, you must mail in a check or money order payment to Plea Unit, P.O. Box 2950 - ESP, Albany, NY 12220-0950.
2. Visit the Traffic Violations Bureau website to pay for your New York speeding ticket if the ticket is eligible for TVB online payment. Enter in your Traffic Ticket Number, the last four digits of your Social Security number in the first section. Since you are a New Jersey resident and do not have a New York driver's license, fill in your name and date of birth in the second section. In the third section, enter in a valid email address for confirmation. Hit the" continue" button for a list of your outstanding speeding tickets.
3. Pay the speeding ticket online by using a valid credit card number. Write down the confirmation number after each online transaction, if there are multiple tickets. The confirmations will also be sent to you via your email address.
