Rent A Bowling Alley

Whether you're organizing a birthday party, a get together with friends or an after hours work event, consider hosting a bowling party. Before you rent a bowling alley, however, consider these tips to ensure you're not only getting the best deal, but also securing everything you need for the party.

Instructions

1. Choose a bowling alley you visit often, particularly if you find the staff friendly and helpful. You can also find a recreation center that's centrally located for the convenience of your guests (see Resources).

2. Determine if you need to rent the entire alley or if a block of lanes will be enough. Even if you have a large party, many of the guests would probably rather chat than bowl, so several lanes would go unused anyway. Use the money you save to buy additional food or decorations instead.

3. Inquire if they'll be closing the alley to other patrons or if other bowlers will still be able to use a portion of the facility during your party. Some places may not be willing to close the alley completely on peak nights or weekend days. You may also have to guarantee a certain number of hours to secure the facility.

4. Ask if the alley rental includes bowling shoes for all of the guests, as well. Although bowling balls in a variety of weights are typically available, you have to rent shoes for an additional fee and you won't want your guests paying for them out of pocket.

5. Find out if the alley caters for parties or if they'll allow you to bring in your own food and drinks. Some facilities charge a fee for cake cutting or for using their tableware, even if you bring in your own refreshments.
