A log book is a written organizational system that allows users to keep a record of a specific task or project by keeping track of events. This system can be used for everything from recording flight hours to keeping up with exercise workouts. It is not hard to organize a log book, but there are a few things to consider before you begin.
Instructions
1. Choose a log book that will hold the data you need. A log book can be made out any book that has blank pages. Depending on how big your project is, you may wish to use a 3-ring binder that can be expanded with more pages, or you can use a simple composition book if your log book will be updated like a journal.
2. Decide whether you want the pages to be task- or date-related. For log books used on a daily, weekly or monthly basis, you may wish to write the day or week on each page or assign a page for each month. If you want the log book to record when specific things have been done, such as changing a filter in an air conditioner, repairing a roof or changing the oil in a vehicle, you may wish to assign a specific task to each page.
3. Use tabs to divide your log book into sections. If you will be working on a project with multiple steps or different kinds of entries, consider using plastic tabs.
4. Add pockets for storage. Store worksheets, loose data pages and other items related to your project by placing them together in pockets or folders inside the log book. This will keep information available and grouped in the correct order, allowing easy retrieval when needed.
