Part Out My Bayliner Boats

If you have an old Bayliner boat you are trying to sell, it may be worth more to offer up the parts of the boat vs. the entire boat. This may sound counterintuitive but the reality is that many of the parts may be more valuable to potential buyers than the whole boat. For reasons of storage, licensing and convenience it is often better to part out older Bayliner boats and sell the parts through online auction sites.

Instructions

1. Write down the size, year, condition and amount of cylinders on the Bayliner engine. This information is found under the cowling -- the engine cover -- at the back of the boat. To save labor on your part, offer the engine for sale as a salvage, meaning the purchaser needs to remove the engine from the boat.

2. Use sockets and a ratchet to remove the various fittings and bench seats. Railings, seats, deck moldings and interior accouterments have value as parts. Captain's chairs are particularly valuable.

3. Offer the steering mechanisms and boat fuel tanks up for sale as parts. These are parts that have additional value when removed from the boat as they may be used in boats other than Bayliners.

4. Sell the marine electronics in the boat through online auction sites and classifieds. These items also are usable with other boat maker's crafts and have value.
