Make Your Own Championship Belts

Replica Sports Belts

One popular way that fans of any sports organization show their support is by creating their own championship belts. Fans love to showcase their belt creations at live events. Selling replica belts is profitable for the promoters. Many fans try to replicate the belts worn by their favorite wrestler or team. With a few materials, time, patience and creative spark, you can create your own version of what makes a champion.

Instructions

1. Place the leather piece on the table and use the felt marker to trace a pattern of where you want to place the items that will appear on your belt. When you make the trace pattern, this is for all the items, faceplate included. Trim the leather around the trace you made. Carefully mark the holes where you intend to insert the leather studs to hold the Velcro strap connectors. Measure your waist and trim the leather according to your waist measurements. You have 10 inches of width on the leather, so you can leave the width however you like.

2. Using the leather studs, push them through the Velcro straps. Using the leather glue, attach the Velcro to the other end of the belt. Read the instructions on the glue to see the drying time. Decide the location where you want to place the ruffles on your belt. The colors red, white and blue are most common. Use the glue and affix the ruffles in the pattern of your choice.

3. Using the other toy belts, remove the gold pieces to use on your own belt. If you want to create your own, then use the cardboard to design and trace out the emblems. Once you have completed this, use the paint (preferably gold) and spray the emblems, then let dry. Do this for all the "gold" you want on your belt.

4. Design the center faceplate (largest item on the belt). You can either take a copy from another toy belt you have bought or you can cut one out of cardboard and draw the logo on it. You may also want to add stencils or raised lettering to the faceplate. Center it on the leather and use the leather studs to secure it. Place the belt around your waist and look in the mirror. Check for any imperfections or rough edges. Use the scissors to trim any excess pieces and smooth out.
